The Samsung 850 Pro 256GB’s read/write speed drop a little bit by around 25MB/s in the AS SSD benchmark, but still that’s an acceptable result. As you can see, both returned sequential read/write speeds which are very close to the drive’s rated speed. The results you see above from the CrytalDiskMark are the 32-bit test and 64-bit test. These results are a tad higher than the drive’s rated speed. The highest read speed I got is around 563MB/s and write speed is around 525MB/s. Graphics card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 750 Ti OC But I just want to show you that even if your PC is not powered by a quad core processor, you can still benefit from the speed that the Samsung 850 Pro has to offer. There’s no special reason why I did this actually. While for the Rapid Mode, I used the Gigabyte Z97x Gaming G1 WiFi BK with Intel Core i7-4770K CPU and Kingston HyperX Savage DDR3 memory. For the main benchmark, I used my Asus Maximus VI Impact with an Intel Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition CPU. The random 4K-QD32 write performance of the SSD 840 Pro was also particularly weak with a throughput of just 223MB/s and the 850 Pro corrects this performance with 325MB/s making it one of the faster SSDs we have tested here.In testing the Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD, I was supposed to use 1 system only, but ended up using two different systems. The random 512K write performance was comparable to the older 840 Pro with 469MB/s.īack when we tested the SSD 840 Pro we found its random 4K-QD32 performance (as you can see, it produced 294MB/s) but the 850 Pro improves on that figure a more respectable 333MB/s, while RAPID mode took that to 449MB/s. Enabling RAPID mode again produced an unrealistically high 6.8GB/s. The SSD 850 Pro's random 512K performance wasn't as strong as we expected, hitting just 407MB/s, while the SSD 840 Pro managed 477MB/s. The sequential write performance is also very strong at 502MB/s, while RAPID mode offered an inflated 4.3GB/s. So essentially RAPID mode is measuring is RAM performance here. Even the first run delivered well over 6GB/s and this is because synthetic benchmarks like CrystalDiskMark pre-cache all the benchmark files onto the target drive first. Enabling RAPID mode inflated the results showing a transfer rate of 7.2GB/s. The SSD 850 Pro's sequential read performance was the strongest we've recorded for a SATA SSD at 538MB/s.
